What does your 'Personal Brand' say about you?
Not your logo or your colours

I’m referring to:

  • Your Character
  • Your ‘Self-talk’
  • Your Truth
  • Your Discipline
  • Your Motivation
  • Your Message
  • Your Stories

I’m speaking to you about being ‘Who You Want To Be’, decided by you and not by societal or anyone else’s norms.

It's unique, specific and special to you…..Why would you want it to be dictated by others or by thoughts that are not true to you.

Your ‘Personal Brand’ speaks to your character, reputation, values, how you think and what’s important to you. It also outlines how you approach all aspects of your life.

One of the most important elements of your 'Personal Brand' is, the ability to unapologetically be ‘Who You Want To Be’.

For me, my ‘Personal Brand’ is about being certain of myself, without ego or arrogance. It’s a place that feels honest and comfortable. It’s about having respect for myself and others, you will notice it in the way I interact and communicate. It’s taken time and personal development, which has all been worth it. I still enjoy spending time working on developing myself but I’m here, where I want to be and it feels great.

I’d like to share some tips and ideas for you to be able to do the same.

Your ‘Personal Brand’ - How important is it to you?

  • What is your 'Personal Brand'?
  • Have you ever thought about it?
  • What does your post pandemic ‘Personal Brand’ look like?

During lockdown did you spend some time reflecting, challenging some of the ideas you have about yourself and go to work on changing any of these?

The truth is our thoughts, fears, aspirations and dreams don’t go away during challenging times, if anything we become more acutely aware of them.

So here I am offering a new perspective to you, some help in finding ways for you to identify your ‘Personal Brand' and if you aren’t already there some tools to start being unapologetically ‘Who You Want To Be’.

Visibility
  • Do you have a fear of being more visible?
  • How can you promote yourself and be more visible in what you do at work or elsewhere in the circles you’re in?
  • Are you shying away from offering up your thoughts, speaking up in meetings, writing that article or sharing some of your views?
  • What about openly celebrating your achievements?

You have a lot to offer no more or less than anyone else. Your views are important so please share them. The people you're speaking to will hear and receive them as you’ve intended. When you share what’s on your mind it will highlight to someone else that they’re not alone or simply offer them new perspectives.

If you shy away from being visible by sharing your views, thoughts or what you know, we’ll never know who you are and what you have to say.

Communication

The way you communicate is a key part of your 'Personal Brand'.

  • What does your communication style say about you?
  • Do you seek to understand and to be understood?
  • Are you respectful?
  • Are you inclusive in your conversations?
  • Do you have confidence in what you're saying?

When you spend time becoming more self-aware, get to know who you are and become comfortable with what you see, you’re better able to speak with confidence and authenticity.

Being self-assured is a game changer.

Values

  • What are your core values?
  • What is important to you?
  • Do you present these every day in what you do or what you say?
  • Are you true to your values?

Being true to your values allows you to give and gain respect. When you’re aligned with your values this means that the foundations of who you are will be unshakeable. Living your values provides you with the certainty of knowing who you are, so that you don’t have to pretend to be someone else or go along with things just because everybody else is.

When you’re sure of yourself and your values decision making becomes easier, because it just feels right.

  • What are you strengths and areas for improvement?
  • What would you put in each of these categories?
  • Are you able to be honest about these?

Identify 1 or 2 things that you want to improve or change in your life, use your strengths to help you work on the areas you want to change. Ask for help if you need to.

There is no shame in wanting to grow and develop, these are a natural part of life.

How about starting now, work on something daily so you can really start to live a life, being who you want to be openly, honestly and unapologetically.
