|
Hi I’m Rosemarie,
My definition of success was heavily influenced by my parents. As a second-generation daughter of Jamaican immigrants, I was imbued with their values. Additionally, my stoic and independent nature drove my determination to succeed. This aspect of my personality, which I’d developed for various reasons, also acted as a protective layer and leaned heavily on masculine energy. I focused on self-reliance, outcomes, and results, all to assert my place and belonging, particularly in male-dominated spaces. I could only maintain this facade for so long before the cracks began to show. Despite steadily advancing in my career into project management and leadership roles, I realised I wasn't being true to myself. I felt exhausted, unhappy, and deeply unfulfilled. I had set aside and almost forgotten a part of me that was just as powerful as my stoicism and independence: my wisdom, intuition rationality and empathy. |
